Hot Stone Massage Course for RMTs
After more than a decade of practice as a Registered Massage Therapist, I have seen firsthand how the right tools can transform a treatment from standard to extraordinary. Hot stone massage is not just an “add-on”—it is a sophisticated therapeutic modality that brings immense value to both your patients and your practice. I am now offering intimate, mentorship-style training at Lacuna Wellness to help you integrate heat with confidence and clinical precision.
Refine Your Skills. Protect Your Longevity. Add Value to Every Treatment.
What To Expect:
This is not a “watch and learn” seminar. Because we keep our groups to a maximum of 4 people, you will be at the table, stones in hand, for the majority of our time together. We focus on the practical application of heat within a professional RMT framework.
During the course we will cover:
The Benefits of Hot Stone
Understanding how to use heat for specific therapeutic outcomes, from chronic muscle tension to systemic relaxation.
Ergonomic Integration
How to use the stones as an extension of your hands to achieve deeper tissue release without the physical strain on your joints.
Seamless Transitions
How to incorporate hot stones into your current flow so the treatment feels like a cohesive, elevated experience for your patient.
Safety Protocols
Practical guidance on stone heating, sanitation, and professional setup in a clinical environment.
Dual-System Training: Dry & Water-Based Heating
In this course, we move beyond a “one-size-fits-all” approach. I will provide in-depth education on the two primary heating systems used in a clinical setting, ensuring you have the skills to work with whichever setup best fits your practice:
The Synergy Stone System (Dry Heat)
Learn the modern approach to hot stones using specialized heating pads. We will cover the unique ergonomic benefits of Synergy Stones, their specialized shapes for body contouring, and the streamlined sanitation protocols that make dry heat a favorite for busy RMTs.
Traditional Stone Roasters (Water-Based)
Master the fundamentals of using water-based systems, including roasters and crock pots. We will dive into the specific safety protocols, temperature management, and hygiene standards required when working with water and basalt stones.
Clinical Application
It’s not just about having the tools; it’s about the technique. We will cover:
Tool Selection
How to choose the right stone for the right muscle group (e.g., using specific shaped stones for trigger point work vs. broad basalt stones for flushing).
Mechanical Advantage
Learning exactly how to hold and move each tool to let the heat do the work, protecting your hands and thumbs.
Integration
How to seamlessly switch between your hands and the stones so the treatment remains fluid and professional for your patient.
Safety & Sanitation
High-level care requires high-level hygiene. I’ll teach you the specific cleaning and maintenance protocols for both dry and water-based systems, ensuring your practice meets the highest professional standards.
Safety is always the most important part of every treatment

Mallory has been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2015 and has integrated hot stones into her practice from the very beginning. Immediately after graduating, she was trained at Spa Utopia, where she first discovered how essential heat is for effective therapeutic outcomes. Over the last 10 years, Mallory has focused on evolving her technique. She has completed several advanced courses to explore different stone types—from traditional basalt to ergonomic shapes—and has mastered both water-based and dry heating protocols. At Lacuna Wellness, she shares this practical, field-tested knowledge to help other therapists add immediate value to their treatments while protecting their own physical longevity.
